Working Out Post Baby & My Favorite Athleisure Items

Working out. We either love it or we hate right? Pre-baby I was adamant about working out at least 4 times a week for mostly superficial reasons. I wasn’t thinking about the future, I was living in the present. Post-baby I workout for a much different reason. I want to live longer for my kiddos and I want to be in good enough shape to always run around with them.

My Post-Baby Workout Journey

After MK, my almost 3 year old, getting back into the saddle wasn’t too difficult. My pregnancy was relatively easy and after I got through the initial shock of having a child (to my body and my brain) I fell back into a workout routine in no time. My workouts typically consisted of a variety of weight lifting, interval training, hot yoga and running. I have to mix it up or I get bored!

However, getting back into a routine after Calvin (who just turned one) has been pretty tough. My pregnancy with Cal was much more intense than with MK. Lower back pain was almost debilitating and it hindered any kind of workout during pregnancy therefore making it much harder to jump into it. I’m STILL experiencing the back pain and am headed into an internal medicine specialist this weekend to see what’s going on. Honestly, it might just be lack of ab muscles but I want to check everything out before intensely working through the pain.

My Current Goals

I am still moving forward with working out in the interim though. It’s SO important to my physical, mental and emotional health. I’m currently doing pilates a few times a week as well as walking with the hope of moving into running sooner than later. If I’m up for it, I mix in some BeachBody workouts because they are SO easy to do in my house post bedtime or earlier in the morning. I plan to sign up for a 10 miler this fall!

Workout Wear

If there’s one thing that I think we can all agree on, wearing workout clothes aka “athleisure” wear is THE BEST. I wear them all the time on the weekends and immediately when I get home from work, if I don’t go straight to the sweats. 🙂

Here are a few of my favorite brands and styles. I tried to pick items on sale! I also wanted to tout Poshmark – I’ve found GREAT, lightly used Lululemon and Zella items on the app for a fraction of the price, including this workout tank. If you haven’t tried it out – definitely do!
